Yoga in a hidden
Kyoto temple.

THE EXPERIENCE · 01

Quiet, seasonal,
and unhurried.

This is not an advanced class. There are no difficult or acrobatic poses — just breath, gentle movement and stillness in the atmosphere of a Zen temple and its garden.

Sandra teaches in both English and Japanese, so visitors to Kyoto and local residents can practice side by side. By the end of the session, your body and heart will feel content.

Comfortable clothes you can move in and something to drink. If you have your own yoga mat, please bring it — contact Sandra in advance if you are travelling and need a mat.

How do I get there?

Sokushu-in is in the Tofuku-ji temple area in Higashiyama, Kyoto, about a 20-minute walk from Tofukuji Station on the JR Nara Line and Keihan Main Line. Please allow extra time to find the entrance, as the temple is not usually open to visitors.

Can I join as a group or book a private temple session?

Please contact Sandra about groups, families or private sessions. Private yoga in Kyoto can be arranged for visitors on other dates.
